The Catholic New Media Conference (CNMC) is a festive, educational, and international conference focused on evangelization and building community through the use of new media. This event is designed to connect, guide and inform Catholic communicators as a response to the Church’s call for new evangelization.

“The 2011 CNMC will focus particularly on social media, its impact on culture, and how the Church and its institutions can effectively use it,” says Fr. Roderick Vonhögen, CEO of SQPN.  “We will be exploring how social media can be used with quality content; authentic catechesis and, a true sense of mission,” he says.

All interested in Catholic communication, new media, and social media are invited, including young adults (18+), ministry leaders, and priests and religious, to whom Pope Benedict appealed in his 2010 World Communications Day message, to “become an ever more pastoral presence on the web.”

Protecting God's Children

"Our desire is that the Church would be the safest place in all of society and culture for our children".  So states Archbishop Joseph Naumann as he begins his interveiw with two of the people who help him keep our kids safe in Church settings: Fr. John Riley, Chancellor and Safe Environment Coordinator and Rita Herken the Virtus Training Coordinator.  Virtus is an ongoing training that equips people to be vigilant and empowers them to report concerns about issues affecting children's safety.

All people working with children in the archdiocese, including clergy, employees, and volunteers must go through a background check and be Virtus trained.  To date over 20,000 people have been Virtus trained in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.

Archbishop Naumann shares his firm commitment to preventing sexual abuse in the Church by creating a safe environment for children and everyone involved in serving youth.  Fr. Riley and Rita Herken share how people can report concerns and the archdiocese's extensive efforts to enable and encourage such reporting.

There are a number of Virtus Trainings coming up in the area:

Due to Flooding in the area this event and ALL speakers have been cancelled.  Including the free speakers

Doctors and Couples YOU Want to Go to this event.

40 years after Humanae Vitae most Catholics know that the Church enjoins married couples to practice Natural Family Planning.  Yet, sadly, many Catholic couples and Catholic medical practitioners have very little knowledge of this pragmatic and life affirming practice.

That's why Benedictine college is reaching out to the culture with its first NFP Outreach National Summer Institute.

Archbishop Naumann converses with two of the event's organizers, Fr. Mathew Habiger and Mathew Tsakanikas, about this amazing conference that is geared toward both medical professionals and lay Catholics alike, and has attracted top tier speakers such as Dr. Robert George and Dr. Janet Smith.

The "Catholic Healthcare Identity: Pastoral & Medical Strategies" NFP Outreach National Summer Institute takes place July 11-16th, 2011 at  CANCELLED Benedictine College.
